A little BTS here on the D2D blog today. I’ve been racking my brain to figure out how to store more plates + glassware and all our liquor. I’ve had this small little white antique piece for years and I absolutely LOVE it. I refinished it with white chalk paint. My favorite part is definitely the black iron handle accent. This piece also folds out to create more space on the top. In the space I have in our home, however, I couldn’t fold out the top. I was stuck to the space on top as is and the cabinet space inside. Once I filled up the top with a little bar tray, a couple bottles of liquor and my favorite bar items… my minimal goal wasn’t so minimal. Don’t even get me started on the inside of the cabinet. Liquor bottles filled to the brim (and we really don’t have that much liquor) and koozies literally spilling from the drawer. How does one accumulate so many koozies? Asking for a friend. Back to business.
I found a fun rattan shelving unit I fell in love with for my wedding decor. We used it as a salad display and I just knew I didn’t want to part with it afterwards. The other night at 10pm (yes, 10pm… because that’s the time I put my work away and had a little fun home inspiration time just for me!) I decided to play around and bring that piece inside to replace my little white cabinet. When they say fit like a glove… I mean… HELLO… made for this space! I was so excited! I look a lot of time that night and the next day to thoughfully place items I love on display. I filled the piece with tons of liquor (obvs) organized by type (channeling my inner Marie Kondo), wedding gifts (glassware, personalized cutting boards, and monogrammed napkins), and some of our favorite plates and glassware. If you haven’t seen my kitchen… you know we don’t have much space for the necessities. Ya know, like plates and cups. I love that now I am able to store some of my favorites and use them as decor as well. Bonus : more room to store new fun plates + glassware, too! But, shhhh… don’t tell hubs!
Here’s a look at the final update. I absolutely love how it came out. I am diggin’ all things rattan lately so this piece speaks to my soul. More BTS of the D2D gal’s home tours coming soon!
